I know they matter for patterning but I don't really understand which ones to use when. I got a turkey choke, got a modified, got a full. When do I use what? I feel like I should know this by now but I'm winging it.

You’re not alone, think wide for close shots, tight for distance, then pattern and let the target decide.

I like to keep things simple. After years of trying different things I figure this works best: a simple choke for most birds, a full choke for longer shots and a turkey choke when you want a super tight spread. To be honest, what shotgun and ammo you're using matters more than whatever the label says
