Actually using the gear I buy instead of saving it

I got nice stuff sitting in my closet that I'm "saving for the right hunt." Meanwhile I'm using beat-up gear because I don't want to mess up the good stuff. That's stupid, this year I'm using what I bought. Anyone else guilty of babying gear instead of actually using it?

I also used to buy gear and just baby it until a zipper broke because it was old, not from being used a lot. I now buy gear and use right away. Gear becomes valuable by being used a lot, not by sitting in a closet.
