Tracking a wounded deer in snow

Last year I tracked a hurt deer in the fresh snow. It became a long, quiet hike that's hard to forget. The blood trail started easy but soon faded. It took patience and slow steps, but I found the deer under a cedar tree...it wasn't the tracking job I wanted, but the snow helped a lot
 
Next time, you should keep an eye out for tracks and broken branches before the trail. Animals usually head downhill to find thick cover
 
If the blood dries up completely, go with the easy path...a wounded deer ain't gonna fight through thick brush
