hey all, picked up my first 10/22 and wow, i see why folks love 'em! it's smooth right from the box, but the customization options are wild. trying to keep it chill at first, but what upgrades did you guys do that actually mattered or just made it a blast to shoot? looking for some good starter ideas. what's the first thing i should tackle?

Are you thinking more about performance upgrades, like triggers and barrels, or fun cosmetic stuff that makes it just more enjoyable to shoot?

I've owned 3 or 4 10/22's over they years, and all have shot perfectly fine out of the box. Aside from a scope they rarely "need" any accessories or modifications. Which doesn't mean that they aren't fun to accessorize! My preferred scope is the Vortex Crossfire II Rimfire Riflescope 2-7x32 Rimfire - V-Plex, Model CF2-31001R

For any other Ruger accessory, my first stop is Tandem Kross. They have everything you want to mod a 10/22 from mild to wild.

Welcome to the addiction, when I got my first 10/22, I swore I was just going to leave it stock... that lasted about an hour and a half. The first thing you have to do is the trigger. The factory pull feels like you're dragging a cinder block through gravel. Slap in a Kidd drop-in kit or maybe a Timney, and suddenly, you'll be punching holes inside of a dime. After that, forget about your savings account, because you're gonna start eyeing a crazy barrel and stock...that rifle is basically a LEGO set for grown-ups

Everyone wastes money on fancy stocks and tactical rails, but the truth is that the 10/22 is the most overrated .22 on the planet, and the only reason people still buy them is because they spend three times the cost of the rifle just to fix the terrible factory trigger and barrel. You're better off getting a CZ or a Bergara for true out-of-the-box accuracy
