Hello folks, I want to get a dependable walkie talkie that's tough. I need good battery life and it has to work out in the woods. I think GMRS is the way to go to get good range, but FRS is cool since you don’t need a license. Any advice?

I remember when my friends and I would go hog hunting, we used these old Motorola GMRS radios. Those things were tough! The battery lasted forever and they worked great, even way out in the woods. I think GMRS radios are the best

The GMRS license is free, and takes less than 10 minutes to fill out the FCC application forms and get the license. FRS and GMRS share a lot of the same frequencies, but GMRS has higher power, base stations, and repeaters.

For decent radio, get one with a big battery and a long antenna, it'll work way better in the woods than those cheap radios.

You can grab a GMRS Rocky Talkie 5 Watt..they are quiet super durable, waterproof and the battery lasts ages when you're out camping.
